Program Terms and Conditions

Green Build Academy San Diego is funded by California utility customers and administered by San Diego Gas & Electric Company (SDG&E®) under the auspices of the California Public Utilities Commission, through a contract awarded to Conservation Services Group. California customers who choose to participate in this program are not obligated to purchase any additional services offered by the contractor. The trademarks used herein are the property of their respective owners. Utility Disclaimer

E-Learning - Online Training will be provided to high schools and their students (grades 10, 11 and 12) within the SDG&E® service area. There is no fee for high school groups or students to access the courses offered in this program. Students may enroll in one course at no charge. Passing grade is 70%. Course choices are Building Science Basics or Integrated Energy/Going Solar.

Time is of Essence. Each participating high school is responsible for assembling teams and enrolling students on the program website within program-alloted timeframes. Although the program is open to any high school in the SDG&E service area, funding is limited to the first four to ten high schools that enroll students and complete the courses within thirty days of registration. The program will be initially rolled out to ten high schools selected randomly. Student and school enrollment is first-come-first-served and if after the first three weeks, funding is available for additional schools and students, another ten to twenty high schools will be invited to enroll in the Program. Rolling enrollments will continue until the maximum number of students has completed a course and all funds are spent. In order to be eligible for the regional competition, all students must complete classes within three weeks of school enrollment and no later than December 1, 2012.

The number of training courses offered at no charge is limited to the first 400 students on a first-come, first-serve basis. An additional 200 seats are available to adults at the $15 per course rate. This program ends December 15, 2012 or when funds are no longer available.

Enrollment does not guarantee funding availability or admission to the Program. When the Program reaches its maximum capacity (600 students), enrollment will be closed without advanced notice. Students who fail to complete the course prior to program closure are not entitled to discounts and cannot compete in the regional contest (even if they complete the course after program closure). In case of over-subscription, CSG strongly recommends that students complete the course within ten days of receiving their e-Learning access link. CSG reserves the right to limit the number of students, schools and teams participating in the program, and to close program enrollment without advanced notice. When enrollment is closed, students who have not yet completed their course will be notified by e-mail and a notice will be posted on the program website.

Regional competition prizes will be awarded by December 31, 2012 after all exam scores have been tabulated. Prizes will be awarded based on the following criteria: A $1,000 grand prize will be awarded to the school with the largest number of students successfully completing either course (with 70% or higher exam scores), and team prizes of $1,000, $500, and $300 will be awarded to the teams with the highest cumulative scores. In the event of a tie, the prize will be split among teams. Prizes will be awarded in the form of American Express or VISA gift cards and there will be no substitutions for cash or alternate prizes. Odds of winning are roughly 1 in 20, depending on the number of teams enrolled.
